Welcome to AccessAbility Kids! I'm Ms. Kerry, a licensed speech-language pathologist and Orton-Gillingham reading tutor in Charleston, SC. I grew up in Syracuse, NY and received my undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. I then moved to Washington, D.C., where I completed my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at The George Washington University. In 2019, I moved to Charleston, SC to start my career and have been loving it ever since!
Over the past five years, I have worked with pediatrics in their natural environment and in a clinical setting. For the last two years, I have also worked with adults in a hospital setting. I received my training in Orton-Gillingham in February of 2023 through the IMSE program. If I'm not doing speech or reading therapy, you will probably find me training for a marathon or playing pickleball!
At AccessAbility Kids our mission is to provide holistic pediatric speech and reading therapy that fosters communication and reading development through the power of movement, nature-based experiences, and small group sessions.
As a speech therapist in a multi-disciplinary setting, I saw first hand the impact movement and sensory regulation had on my client's speech and language development. I also found my students were more engaged during small group sessions. When opening my practice, my mission was to build on these strengths by creating a space outside of a small office for children to embrace movement and share experiences with peers. Through individualized, movement and nature-based therapy, we aim to create a positive, supportive community where every child can grow, learn, and thrive.
